The City of Osceola’s Street and Sanitation Department is responsible for maintaining the city’s infrastructure and providing essential waste management services to residents. Through the hard work of its dedicated staff, the department ensures that Osceola’s streets are clean and safe, and that waste is properly collected and disposed of.

The Street Department focuses on the upkeep of the city’s roads, alleys, and drainage systems. This includes:

  • Road Maintenance: Pothole patching, surface repairs, and general upkeep to ensure smooth and safe travel for drivers.
  • Drainage and Ditches: Maintaining and cleaning city ditches and storm sewers to prevent flooding and ensure proper water drainage.
  • Street Cleaning: Regular sweeping to remove debris and maintain the cleanliness of public roads.
  • Right-of-Way Maintenance: Mowing and clearing public rights-of-way to improve visibility and safety.

The department is also responsible for signage, street lights, and assisting with storm cleanup and other public works projects as needed.

Sanitation Department

The Sanitation Department provides vital solid waste collection services to the community. The department is committed to a clean and healthy city through:

  • Household Garbage Collection: The city operates a regular schedule for residential trash pickup. For residents living East of Elm Street, pickup is on Monday and Thursday. For those West of Elm Street, pickup is on Tuesday and Friday.
  • Yard Waste Collection: The department also provides scheduled pickup for limbs, leaves, brush, and grass clippings, with a schedule based on specific quadrants of the city.
  • Bulk Collection: The department handles the collection of larger household items, such as furniture. Residents can contact the department for more information on scheduling and regulations for these pickups.
