The City of Osceola is proud to provide its residents with a comprehensive suite of essential municipal services, ensuring a high quality of life and a strong, resilient community. These services are locally owned and operated, which provides local accountability and allows for quick response to the needs of the city.
Water & Sewer

The Water & Sewer Department is dedicated to providing residents with a safe, reliable, and affordable water supply. The city’s water system, which has been in operation for over a century, draws from the Wilcox Group Aquifer, ensuring a high-quality water source. The department is also responsible for the city’s comprehensive sewer and wastewater treatment systems, which include a four-cell lagoon system that is designed to meet or exceed federal and state standards.
Electric

Osceola Municipal Light & Power has been a city-owned utility since 1912, making it the only municipal electric utility in Mississippi County. This public ownership gives citizens direct control and accountability over their utility through elected officials. The department provides reliable electricity at competitive prices and maintains a local inventory of parts and equipment to respond quickly to emergencies.
Sanitation
The Sanitation Department plays a critical role in keeping Osceola clean and healthy. It provides scheduled garbage collection services for residents, as well as separate pickups for yard waste. The department also handles the collection of bulk items, helping to manage waste efficiently and in an environmentally responsible manner.
